Bernie Arnason, Managing Partner & Founder

Bernie ArnasonBernie brings 15 years of telecom experience to Pivot Media, where he provides strategic direction and leadership. Bernie follows the telecom industry closely and conducts industry research and analysis, provides strategic consulting for clients, and cultivates insightful telecom mindshare. Bernie is also the managing editor of Telecompetitor, Pivot Media’s leading telecom industry blog focusing on the evolving telecom competitive landscape. Past accomplishments include co-founding the TelcoTV Conference and Expo. Bernie is a well respected thought leader within the telecom industry and is a frequent speaker and panelist at regional and national events. Bernie is also a principal with Pivot Media’s sister company, Pivot Group, a leading marketing agency.

Prior to Pivot, Bernie spent seven years with the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) as the vice president of business development. At NTCA, Bernie lead a team of five responsible for working with telecom carriers to identify and act upon telecom business and technology developments. Prior to his work with NTCA, Bernie worked for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) in network operations, where he led a team in the large business/special services group. Bernie has a comprehensive understanding of the telecom industry and brings a wealth of experience in IPTV, broadband, wireless and IP convergence. He has an extensive network throughout the telecom industry. Bernie holds a bachelor of arts in Economics from the University of the District of Columbia and a Master of Science in Telecommunications from the Johns Hopkins University.

Dave Nieuwstraten, Principal

Dave NieuwstratenDave has over 13 years experience in the telecommunications industry. A leading telecom market researcher, Dave focuses on conducting industry research and reports which provide knowledge and insight into the evolving telecom landscape. Dave is also the founder and managing partner of our sister company, Pivot Group, a leading marketing agency. Prior to Pivot, Dave held senior consulting positions with two firms focused on small and rural telecommunications companies. He was the senior marketing consultant for GVNW Consulting, where he worked for over five years. Prior to that, he was the director of marketing services for Cathey, Hutton & Associates (now CHR Solutions) where he oversaw the western region and 11 employees in the marketing/research division. His first position in the industry was as the director of marketing and public relations for BCT, a cooperative in Beavercreek, Oregon. Dave serves on the marketing committees for various telecommunications associations including Rural Independent Competitive Alliance (RICA), OPASTCO, and the Oregon Telecommunications Association. Dave is a frequent writer and speaker on marketing-related topics including strategy, research, product development, advertising, and pricing/bundling. Dave holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, San Diego State University, and has completed the AMA School of Marketing Research, University of Notre Dame.

Mark Fordice, Principal

Mark co-directs Pivot’s research division and also oversees web and technical development projects. Mark has provided product and project management services to both small and large companies for over fifteen years.  As a senior product manager, Mark planned and developed new data product lines for a cartography division of Boeing while directing a team located around the world.  At Boeing, he doubled a product’s revenues in three years, in part through the effective use of research. Previous to Boeing, Mark headed up software development on variety of web and CD projects at ImageBuilder.  He also served as a technical marketer at Intel where he researched new Internet technologies for integration into new products.  Mark holds a bachelor of science in Computer Science from Biola University.
